ABSTRACT:

The seismic assessment of old masonry buildings has become a need, however a complex task to achieve. In this study the seismic performance of an existing mixed masonry-concrete building is assessed through non-linear static analysis (pushover), in line with the provisions of NP EN 1998-3. An equivalent frame model was developed with mechanical properties adapted from the literature. Experimental tests were also carried out to measure the natural frequencies of the building which were used to calibrate the numerical model. Ultimate displacement capacity curves for uniform and pseudo-triangular load distribution were derived and target displacements according to N2 method determined. To assess the ductility and energy dissipation capacity of the building, structural behavior factors were evaluated using the ideal equivalent bi-linear system. Results are presented and discussed.
