ABSTRACT:

In this research it was performed an experimental investigation of the filling ratio influence on thermal performance of ASTM B-75 Alloy 122 copper thermosyphons with outside diameter of 9.45 mm, inner diameter of 7.75 mm, and total length of 200 mm. The analyzed filling ratios were 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% of the evaporator volume. The working fluid was deionized water. The experimental tests were performed in vertical position under thermal loads between 5W and 45W. The experimental results of the thermosyphons thermal performance indicated that, within the considered operation range, they operated satisfactorily. The thermosyphon with a filling ratio of 40% showed the best thermal performance.
