ABSTRACT:
The wood slabs are structural elements with increasing application, particularly in the rehabilitation of existing elements, adequacy of large interior spaces and new building structures. The excellent mechanical properties, associated with high thermal and acoustic properties make this material an ideal solution for floor slabs and roofs. For evaluation of the fire performance, two tests were performed on cellular slabs (3 cells) with different perforations (small and large rectangles). These slabs are composed of rectangular beams (three layers) attached to main wood structure (Kerto beams) with Simpson metal connectors and using three layers wood panels for ceiling and floor. The slabs were instrumented with wire type K thermocouples on specific measuring points, copper disks thermocouples on the unexposed floor surface panel and plate thermocouples for measuring the temperature in the fire compartment and cells. A fire resistance furnace was used with the prescription of ISO834 curve. This paper presents the results of the temperature in the perforated panels, beams, connectors, unexposed floor surface and results of charring rate for each cell of the ceiling (different perforations).
