ABSTRACT:

The present study presents the development of an experimental setup to analyze the performance of a turbocharger when it is subject to actual operating conditions imposed by an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE). After the development of the experimental setup this systems was implemented in a test vehicle and studied on a vehicle power bench. The acquisition of the operating parameters of the turbocharger was made using various sensors and a program for data acquisition. The experimental tests were performed with a matrix platform running up to 60 operating conditions, matching to different engine speeds (N) and load (mean effective pressure) of Internal Combustion Engine. Through the analysis of experimental uncertainties was possible to quantify the uncertainty of the measurements and identify the influence of the variables measured in the calculated variables. Furthermore, it even allows to checking which measured variables most contribute the most to the experimental uncertainty of the calculated variables. It also enables the visualization of the operating points of MCI through the realization of turbomatching.
