Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) technology enables the production in a near net shape and accurate of rapid tools and components, directly from 3D CAD data, by sintering metal powder mixtures with a high power laser. Materials properties and process parameters affect directly the powder sintering process and resultant properties and dimensional precision of the parts. DMLS technology is used to save time and costs both in the product development process and part production, when compared with conventional technologies like milling and electrical discharge machining (EDM).
