ABSTRACT:

The main objective of this work is to assess the biomechanics behaviour for different materials in a femoral prosthesis. It is intending to assess the biomechanical strength in the bone-implant assembly, through the stress and strain distribution in a male gender of 70 years old. High resolution computer tomography was used for the three dimensional geometry. The biomechanical analysis for the bone-implant is obtained with the finite element method, considering the cortical and trabecular bone effect. The elastic and isotropic model in analysis is submitted to different loading conditions during quotidian and muscular activity. A discussion based on the results of the analysis using three different biomaterials in prosthesis will be presented.
