ABSTRACT:
This work aims to evaluate the effect of temperature on the bone due to heating caused by the drilling process. In the placement of dental implants for example, the variables that interfere in the drilling process of the bone are: the speed, the material, the diameter, length and geometry of the drill bit. With this paper we intend to verify, experimental and numerically, the variables that take part in the heating of the bone structure. For this purpose, composite materials with similar characteristics to the trabecular and cortical bone with different densities were used. The presented methodology proves to be useful and differentiated from other works, since they are used materials with similar characteristics to the materials in vivo. The experimental methods used in the laboratory are based on thermography and thermocouples during the drilling of different materials. At the same time, theoretical and numerical models were used using the finite elements technique for results discussion.
