Application of nanocrystalline diamond films as protective coating in photovoltaic solar cells

Authors: Raul Simões, V. F. Neto

ABSTRACT:

Photovoltaic systems lack some improvements particularly in the development of films that protect solar cells from wear suffered by sand and dust from the environment. Globally, the most desirable locations for the installation of photovoltaic parks are deserts, however the frequent sandstorms are responsible for the erosion of the material protecting the solar cells, which thus lose their transmission efficiency. It is theme which includes this work, in order to perform a preliminary study on the possibility of applying coatings of nanocrystalline diamond thin films obtained by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) in glass samples.
