ABSTRACT:
In this article was used non-destructive method of "penetration" to estimate the apparent density and the Janka hardness of tropical woods with the grain oriented in the directions, longitudinal, radial and tangential. For the non-destructive testing device was used Pylodin 6J.The moisture, density and Janka hardness in the three directions of the fibers were determined following the prescriptions of the NBR 7190(1997). For the Janka hardness the values of coefficients of determination were 82%, 72% and 42% for the longitudinal direction, radial and tangential, respectively. As long as for density, the values of R² were 76%, 68% and 59% for the same directions.
