ABSTRACT:

There are few studies in the literature about thermography in the evaluation of wound healing. The aim of this study is to relate the thermograms with the area of the wounds during 12 phototherapy sessions. Ten patients with pressure ulcers were randomly divided into two groups. The control group received daily application ofalginate hydrogel dressing. The experimental group received LED phototherapy in addition to daily application of alginate hydrogel dressing. Thermograms and photographs of wounds were obtained in 12 treatment sessions in both groups and were analyzed. The experimental group showed from the 6th session, temperature stabilized and healing rate of 25% at end of treatment. In the control group it was observed increase of the wound area and significant temperature variations during the sessions.
